Once you have selected a search criteria like city select a city name and click make map
Make Map
Once you have click a make map you will now be in the ArcIMS mapping window
Next you will want to go to the top menu and under District Tools select CONSERVATION TOOLS
Online District Tools
To create an online conservation plan you will need to click the Conservation Tools menu which is under the District tools at the top of the frame.
Once you have clicked the Conservation Tools then a menu will appear on the right hand side with three tab. The tabs are PROJECTS, CONSERVATION PLANS, REPORTS.
The first tab, projects, allows users to zoom to different project area
The second tab, conservation plans, allows the user to create new online conservation plans.
The third tab, reports, allows the user to create conservation reports from plans that have been submitted to the database.
Create a Conservation Plan
Once the user is in the Conservation Tools Mapping window and selected the district tools menu you are ready to add a conservation plan. First click the conservation plans tab then start to fill out the user information. Remember every project needs a project name!
Next select a Planned Resource.
Next select a Conservation Practice
Once you have selected a Conservation Practice then a table will appear (as seen below) to allow the user to add different practice features. These practice features will allow you add a point, line or polygon feature to the map.
Below is a brief description of what is in the conservation plan table.
Add a Practice Feature
Below are some simple steps on how to add a practice feature
1. Select your planned resource and then you conservation plan. For our example my planned resouce is GULLY ERISON and MY CONSERVATION PRACTICE is Terrace Systems with Tile.
2. Next I will define my farm perimeter. I will click the polygon icon. When I do that the Active Tool menu at the tool will show that I have clicked Add Polygon
2. Next I will take my mouse and start to add a polygon on the mapping window
3. If I wanted to zoom out or keep that farm perimeter in place while I moved around the map I can click on check box labeled DRAW AREA and it will keep my farm perimeter in place
4. Next I wil add a pipeline. I click on the pipeline tool which looks like a line segment . Notice my active tool now shows Add Line
5. Now notice I stopped half way because I actually want to show you how to add two of the same feature
6. To add two of the same practice feature you need to do the following. In our example we are working on the pipline feature and as seen above image we already added half of the feature.
7. The next step is Click the DRAW AREA button. This will allow the pipeline you just finished drawing to remain on the screen while you are adding a new one. NOW Click the pipeline tool again to add the second part of the pipeline.
NOTE: By clicking on this the pipeline tool a second time tells the computer you are finished with the last line and you are going to make a new one!!!
Now for our example added a line for the pipeline practice feature and I am sure you probably wouldn't need to add a pipeline this way but I just wanted to demonstrate how to add multiple features for one practice feature.
8. Next I add the rest of the practice features. Once I finished adding all my practice features I clicked the DRAW AREA button again to view all my practice features
9. Now that you have finished adding all your practice areas you will want to assign a label to each practice. Once a label had been assigned to each practice you will want to assign a component. After clicking the button labeled C a menu should appear as seen below.
10. For our example I am just going to randomly assign data to the selected rows just to show you the functionality. So under the section titled Search Components Database I am going to select Irrigation. Once I have selected irrigation a whole list appears and I need to select a value from that list.
11. Once I selected a value it will automatically populate the menu above. Now I need to go to the top menu and click the button next to the number 2 to select that row. Notice that I populated row two with a value from the Agnps Incentives list.
12. Now I will populate the rest of my rows. Now that everything is populated I will hit the submit button to send all this information back to my conservation practice table.
13. Once I hit the submit button on my component menu all the values were submitted back to my conservation practice table.
14. Now that everything in our menu is populated we are ready to submit the data to the database.
Adding Rows
If the user needs to add more rows click the Add a row button. The user can add as many rows as needed.
For our example we had 6 records so when we added a row the next record looked like the image below.
Delete Rows
If the user needs to delete a row click the delete row button Once a user clicks the delete row button that information is deleted.
Other
Elevation Point
First click on elevation icon
Second notice that the Active Tool on the main window has change to Location Coordinate
Third click on the map window. Once you do that the x y z values for that click point will appear in your menu window. You can click on the map window as many times as you want. You don't have to click the icon again to get a new x y z value just keep clicking in the map window as long as the Active tool is labeled Location Coordinate.
NOTE: If you don't select an elevation type then the default will be assigned as Max Elevation
